Yes, Atlus Knows You Want Persona 5 For Nintendo Switch

Persona 5 is having a resurgence in 2020, with Persona 5 Royal launching on PS4 and the Nintendo Switch getting Persona 5 Scramble (which you could argue is essentially a sequel) this month in Japan.

But what about bringing the original to the Nintendo Switch? Something fans have been asking for. It's curious that Atlus is releasing a follow-up to Persona 5 on a platform where players still can't play its preceding story, with no firm indication that it's on the cards. Speaking to IGN, Atlus Communications Manager Ari Advincula didn't have any new announcements to share, but did ensure fans that Atlus is listening.

“You want what you want,” Advincula explained, “and if you don't let us know it we’re never going to be able to make it.”

Advincula made it very clear during the interview that she's far from the decision-maker at Atlus, and that this shouldn't serve as a confirmation that the studio is working on a port. But as a self-proclaimed champion of the idea, she believes “it’s important to always voice your opinion.”

Persona 5 Scramble is a direct follow-up to the story from the main game, but features more action-orientated combat that eschews the fundamentals from Persona 5 is clever ways. It's out this week in Japan, but doesn't yet have a Western release date.

Persona 5 Royal is far more imminent though, and has loads of additions and improvements that might make another playthrough essential. It's out in March exclusively on PS4. Our original 9/10 Persona 5 review praised its turn-based combat and vibrant world, with critic Lucy James saying, "It's a refined, effortlessly stylish RPG that will be talked about for years to come."
