The book chronicles "every incarnation of The Caped Crusader across comics, TV, animation, movies, video games and beyond" and features perspectives from some of the most influential people who have worked on Batman media. The list of contributors includes: Grant Morrison, Joel Schumacher, Frank Miller, Christopher Nolan, Julie Newmar, Tim Burton, Mark Hamill, Frank Miller, and more. Kevin Conroy, who lended his voice to Batman: The Animated Series, wrote the introduction, and former Batman actor Michael Keaton penned the foreword.
Co-authored by Andrew Farago and Gina McIntyre, the history of Batman is in good hands here. Farago has written similar books about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Peanuts, while McIntyre is known for her writing on Star Wars and Stranger Things.
As a book that covers all things Batman, readers will also find new material from DC and Warner Bros. such as film production photos and animated cels. Perhaps the coolest aspect of this book is the 40-page film treatment written by the late Batman co-creator Bob Kane.
