Goodsmile Racing Finishes 3rd at Round 4 of Super GT 2021

Some changes were made to the livery of the #4 Hatsune Miku AMG with the Haregi version of the 2021 Racing Miku on the bonnet of the car since there will be no 10 Hours of Suzuka race this year. And a collaboration with the streetwear brand Anti Social Social Club decorated on the rear wing of the car.

Goodsmile Racing Reveals Haregi Version of Racing Miku 2021

The haregi version is meant to be for the 10 Hours of Suzuka but the race was announced back in March earlier this year that it will be cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic. Despite the disappointment from the team, they wrapped the new Racing Miku on a spare bonnet for display at the Akiba CO Gallery.

Goodsmile Racing Finishes 8th at Round 2 of Super GT 2021

The #4 Hatsune Miku AMG would start in 11th position after an improvement from their last round in qualifying prior to the race. The race would see the first use of the Full Course Yellow (FCY) meaning all cars on track must slow down and overtaking is not allowed. The same rule applies like with the safety car that the pit lane closes during a Full Course Yellow.

In addition, a collaboration with Super Sonico has been announced with Sonico also wearing the 2021 racing outfit. As well as a 1/18 and 1/43 scale model of the Hatsune Miku AMG the team is driving with for this season. The 1/18 scale model comes with a special acrylic casing. Both models are available for preorder from 30th March 2021 until 29th April 2021 at 1200hrs JST.

Goodsmile Racing Finishes 8th at Round 3 of Super GT

The race started with drama on the first lap when the #61 Subaru BRZ and #30 apr Toyota Prius collided causing the latter to crash into the foam barriers forcing them out of the race triggering the safety car. Just as the race restarts the #16 Mugen NSX collides with the barriers with their rear left tyre missing and retiring from the race.

The race started earlier than usual and the #4 Hatsune Miku AMG would gain some positions on the first few laps. There have been a rule change to pitstops where all teams must change all four of their tyres which would prevent teams from doing fuel only race strategies. The team decided to pit on the 21st lap.

Unfortunately, the 10 Hours of Suzuka will be cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As most of the teams that take part in it are from outside of Japan, it was inevitable that the race would get cancelled. Hopefully we’ll go back to racing soon with Super GT later in the year.

The opening race at Okayama has been postponed to 11th and 12th of July, Fuji has been postponed to 8th and 9th of August, Sugo has been postponed to 12th and 13th of September, while Suzuka, Thailand and Sepang (Malaysia) are still yet to be confirmed. Autopolis and Motegi are expected to run on their initial scheduled dates.

The race went underway with the #4 Hatsune Miku AMG overtaking the #33 EVA Nissan GT-R at the start of the race. There were overtakes here and there as teams have been let go of all their success ballast in the shortest race of the season at only 250 kilometres or 53 laps.

The race started under the Safety Car as the whole track was wet. There was a mix of teams racing with dry slick tyres and wet threaded tyres as teams gambled whether the track would dry up or not. The race went underway on the third lap with teams on the wet tyres overtaking the team on the dry tyres that were struggling for grip on the wet track.

The race started off with the #4 Miku AMG overtaking the #7 D’Station Aston Martin at the at the start of the race. With just 3 laps into the race the safety car was deployed due to the #1 Raybrig NSX-GT crashing into the barriers forcing them to retire and possibly ending their chances for a second championship for the team in GT500 which saw 2009 Formula One champion Jenson Button and his teammate Naoki Yamamoto take the championship last year.

Goodsmile Racing Finishes 10th at the 10 Hours of Suzuka

The #00 Hatsune Miku Mercedes-AMG GT3 would qualify in 6th for the start of the race which started off well overtaking the #777 CarGuy Ferrari 488 GT3 on the first lap. The first hour of the race would be calm with some overtakes and minor spins until the first big incident would happen when the #88 JLOC Lamborghini Huracan GT3 made contact with the #5 GTNET Nissan GT-R GT3 to overtake spinning both cars and getting the #34 Walkenhorst BMW M6 GT3 that was in 2nd place involved forcing them to pit for repairs.
